Yeah poor Landon Donovan, he looked MISERABLE. But you know I was sad for the US team and sad as a fan but Ghana really did IMO play better all around. They were ON from the first second and held together pretty well to the end. USA had alot of chances, and while alot of was luck, if they had played well from the start or at least consistently from half time to the end, then AT LEAST usa would have got to the penalty kick round if not won the game. Ghana just wanted it more. So that makes the loss a little easier to take because we lost to a good team and Ghana looked SO HAPPY after. They really were Africa's last hope, so now I hope they go far in this tournament. At least to the semi-finals.

HEE. I love how even english people think england will lose to germany XD I am not hoping they will lose but honestly from their performance so far, I dont know if they can really beat germany at this rate. But maybe they will pull an upset like they did in the last game and win it :D

I feel the same way as your first paragraph! But awww, the US team are so cute and so lovable. Does soccer have smaller international competitions during the off years? D: I want more USMNT!

I know I really got so attached to US team in a way that I didnt in 2006's world cup and Landon looked so sad ;_; poor baby! and Gomez! I was rooting for Gomez, that was his first WC! Oh well babes, there's always Rio! (where the next WC will be set :Dv)

and There absolutely is soccer during the year! (ever year I think) and I think there is a european cup that is like every 2 years or less? I dont remember. I know that there is Serie A which is various Italian clubs competing against each other (like AC Milan), and La Liga which is various spanish clubs competing against each other (really famous ones like Real Madrid and FC barcelona can be found here) and the Premiere league (which is english clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal) and the MLS (which american soccer teams, like LA galaxy :D) all go on during the year. What I cant tell you is when. I know the MLS season is usually April-November. and I am pretty sure ESPN or ESPN2 airs those games.

However for Serie A and La Liga and Premiere League, ESPN doesnt air it.
At least I have never seen it on any of the ESPN channels. I know Serie A and La Liga are on the Fox Soccer Channel. But idk about the Premiere League. Also there are loads of fascinating South American leagues that dont get much (if any) play on FSC but can be found on GOLtv.
Unfortunately as an american I cant usually follow most of the non american leagues/games because they just arent aired on ESPN or other available sports channels and if you are American too you will probably have trouble as well. I say if you have the money you should get FSC or GOltv (better yet, BOTH) because they both have really cool shows that go into the history of Football and international rivalries.
I dont know if OnDemand (assuming you have digital cable or some other system that uses OnDemand) have stuff like big league games or the European Cup (which as far as I know does not involve any south american, african or asian teams though I know there is also an Asian cup and probably an African cup but I have no idea when or where they take place or what channels would carry them if any. I am also 98% positive there is a South American cup and if so it's definitely gonna be on GOLtv. This makes me wonder who Mexico would play against normally though, they arent south american and arent part of the euro leagues or the MLS...huh) and yeah basically that's all I got. I hope it was helpful? You might wanna look up some europeans or (just google) for more info lol.

Oh, I know there's soccer during the year! I was wondering about international, country vs country competitions. Like how there's a hockey world championship even though the Stanley Cup is really the big thing. So I have to wait 4 years to see another Team USA?

I totally will track down what teams the players are on normally though so I can follow them! And I will definitely poke around online more and look into GOLtv and FSC and stuff! I don't know if I can afford it though. . .

Thank you for the intro! :D

This is so late and sorry for all the babble in my previous comment. I just wasnt sure what you needed to know and plus I kind of wanted to write that all out for my own referance as well XD
That said I have some more info and you may know this already but apparently the US and Brazil national teams will be having a friendly match in New Jersey on August 10th :D Gah I'd love to go but I dunno that I can afford at this point (I'm on the east coast even! but not in New England area ;_; so the price of tickets, airfare, hotel fare....yikes D:) but perhaps you are closer and more monetarily lucky than I :D more info about the venue and ticket purchasing can be found here: http://www.selectaticket.com/ResultTicket.aspx?evtid=1388887&event=US+Mens+Soccer+vs.+Brazil

I hope since it involves the US NT that ESPN will air it cause I really wanna see the game. I dont really care about the MLS itself so much :( (or at all)
Also have you seen these adorable spanish commercials that Landon Donovan did?

If nothing else you can take joy in watching Germany river dance on England tomorrow

XDDDD. Elle have I told you how much I appreciate your bitter anecdotes over the English? I dont even dislike the English, but it is still hilarious. That said, I dont think the Germans riverdance lol but unless England steps it up, I do believe Germany will trounce them and as history would have it Germany has repeatedly trounced England (I mean in football of course but I suppose if we are taking into account ALL history....8D) so tomorrow the English will need some miracles or just you know play really really well. I cant say that our team managed to play really really well, and that's why Ghana kicked their butts in the end :(

With the spirit of the Irish, who cheer against England for every competition ever, the Germans shall river dance 8D I actually used to like them, but they just under-perform all the damn time and their fans are the most obnoxious in the world and I'm tired of them going on about the one world cup victory they had.....44 years ago!!! >:| Germany is a much better team. Unless the entire German team gets struck down by lightning tonight, England are kidding themselves if they think they can continue playing like they have and win. Wow, that turned out to be really long XD You should see me on twitter why don't you have a twitter btw

Ghana had a weak spot of not assisting players that went to attack the goal though

Gah I am so sorry I got to this so late but it's been like on my tabs for weeks now XD. and I've been finding out recently that apparently England has a long (hilarious) one sided rivalry with Germany. With them always losing to Germany and Germans thus seeing them as nothing more than a quarter annual road block to their success. talk about ouch huh? but as it stands the Germans have been river dancing over everyone so far! They have been playing with such grace, joy and also deadly efficiency that after they annihilated my favorite team for the Cup (Argentina) I could only sit and watch with a gaping expression at the sheer merciless yet stunning to behold ass kicking that was just let loose upon the unsuspecting argentines. I wanted to be angry but I could only feel awe. Mad props to Germany for that play. Putting the Joga back into Joga Bonito...or is it the Bonito back into Joga Bonito? well whatever you get the idea lol.

I dont have a twitter because I am lazy and I know I wont update it. But if you want you can link to me your twitter :) and yeah Ghana had it's weaknesses but ultimately they went out on PKs. Talk about a shit way to go man :( (and all cause of that cheating shit from uruguay! I got your number suarez o_o*)

Don't even talk to me about that. I am still depressed/angry/devastated at Ghana going out like they did. If only Gyan had made that ET penalty, they would have been through...SUAREZ!!! :| I didn't even mind Uruguay before this, but now I want Holland to wipe the floor with them. I want a 4-0 loss to crush their spirits!!!

Speaking of which, I figured Germany would go through, but dayum. And the really sad/funny/frustrating thing about it is that all the goals were just easily tapped into the net. Argentina were falling over themselves but Germany was just skipping merrily to an easy victory. I really hope they win this year, I'm still kinda upset at them not being in the finals last time, because Italy definitely wouldn't have won, damn Italians >:|

It's been so weird, not having a match to wake up to and eat lunch to everyday. It's weird to think the whole thing is almost over. What am I gonna do with myself now? lol

I am sorry girl D: there's def been alot of disappointments along with the fun surprises in this cup. Plus part of me was still mad at ghana for shamelessly wasting time during their match against USA. But that thing suarez did was still fucked up and if it hadnt been for that ghana woulda been in the semi's (but i find it doubtful they;d have beaten the dutch though more likely they would beat the dutch than the spanish or germans)

Argentina were falling over themselves but Germany was just skipping merrily to an easy victory.
LOL exactly. it was just shameful to watch. but then Maradona as much as I love his crazy antics is not the best coach. let's be for real.
and I was rooting for the French to win back in 06 cause of Zidane he is like the ONLY arab in the tournament who had a chance of getting anywhere. Too bad that Matarazzi bastard fucked him over. ITALY!!! MY NEMESIS FOR LIFE. >(

Oh man I just read your twitter and saw your reaction to the Germany v Spain match today. That match was so intense! I had no clue who was gonna win it and I wasnt super partial to either side so it was fun trying to guess. But Spain being in the final for the first time ever is pretty exciting! I love how it seems favorites have been getting bumped around all tournament and spain were favorites and first and then the germans and now Spain are favorites again which means the Dutch will win lol. But I rather the Spanish won. Either way though it will be a first time for one of them and that's gotta be pretty amazing! I dont know what happened to the germans though, they were being so defensive and i didnt see the spark of last few games in them. Very odd. Man that Octopus Paul is like a prophet or something. It's been right the whole time!

I know man i am so sad the Cup is almost over ;_; I am a total football junkie now. I was into it before but I didnt have dvr or all these fancy sports channels then. But apparently ESPN3.com will start having games from big european leagues on live streaming, so all hope is not lost!

I know Ghana probably wouldn't make it past the semis, but I really wanted them to get there. At the very least they wouldn't have the emotional pain of going all the way to a shoot out and losing then D: I really thought Germany was gonna win, but it seems like they have these foolish 1-0 loses in between 4-0 whitewashes (eg. the loss against Serbia, I still cannot believe that). I don't even know who to root for now; I'm not partial to neither Spain nor Holland. I can't believe it's ending either. I've gotten so used to tweeting matches and raging about loses and squeeing about victories, but it's gonna be over this week O.o What the hell am I gonna do with myself? lol

Awwww D: Yeah that's how I felt about USA. I was hoping they'd at least make it to the quarter finals man (I dont bear Ghana any ill iwll for that btw I am just sayin lol) but it's like there is always 2014. I just feel sad none of tthe african nations made it to the semi's

I think Germany struggled cause they lost one of their key players Thomas Muller. and Also that damn octopus jinxed them! (lol jk) but man I didnt know you and quinnie were tweeting about football. I'd have joined then XD I didnt get a twitter cause I thought I'd have nothing interesting to say. Well I'll get one now but I dont know what to call myself, I checked and "sisterjune" is taken ;_;.

Uh, who played who in what and who lost? :p *Doesn't follow sports* Ah wait, there's football (YES FOOTBALL BECAUSE YOU PLAY IT WITH YOUR FEET) going on now right? They mentioned it on The Daily Show!
Anyways, uh, have a cookie? Cookie makes it better.

Ahahahhaa. I call it both soccer and football, and yeah the USA national team lost to Ghana but I have made my peace with it since. It was sad though, I invested so much energy into rooting for them! D:
Hee, Daily Show should be fun on monday if England wins their game against Germany. John Oliver will SO rub it in Jon's face! and I will LOL but also feel sad that we lost D: I suppose if both teams lose it'll be funny but in a very different way lol.
I ended up having cake instead :Dv
