A video of various reactions of Americans during that tense match yesterday! Who knew so many Americans gave a shit about soccer huh? My sister works in a sports bar and apparently got to see this kind of reaction first hand. I on the other hand was probably more like the arkansas guy in that video lol, I ran around the house and then starting squeeing to my mommy! XD

And for fun, Colbert and J. Stewart's responses to the USA win:

the Daily show video is hilarious. Poor John Oliver, he got mega burned lol.

I am hella glad that USA doesnt have to vs Germany this weekend. Cause I would not like those odds. Though Germany V England should be epic. plus if the English lose, I can laugh about it after!. That said, I love team Ghana and up till now I have been rootin for them. However, I am an American first, so I am for team USA all the way! WOO *pulls out flag* In the mean time though, I will be rooting for Brazil in the sure to be EPIC Brazil v Portugal game tomorrow (or today for some of you lol) :D

Dear Who Fandom, please stop calling Amy a "Mary Sue" or "Very Special" because she did two rather mundane things that happened to help the doctor alot, like notice something he didnt notice because his back was turned and he was too busy being angsty and all-knowing to notice anything else anyway. Also just because Amy helped the Doctor diffuse the Dalek Bomb with her own humanity does not mean she is going to take over the show/turn into rose/make the doctor look useless etc etc and I think we can all agree that was a shit storyline anyway.
Seriously you guys, I know RTD gave everyone a major complex because of how much he fucked shit up, but SERIOUSLY, cut that shit out. Like now. Some love. ~Tai

Dear Mark Gatiss, I think you are a crap writer. Not the worst ever maybe sure but this episode of Who was possibly the most boring and pointless Who episode I've ever seen and that's saying alot considering I saw "Last of the Time Lords". Also you majorly suck at writing companions. Basically just quit. No love. ~Tai

Dear English final paper. I fucking hate you. ~Tai

I saw the film Waitress last night. It's a really beautiful film and I recommend it to everyone. I thought the story was very empowering and uplifting, particularly to women who are having a hard time the way the heroine of the film was. She's undergoing alot but she's never self pitying or defeatist and at the end she makes two very important and powerful decisions about her life. It's hard for me to go into detail beyond this without spoiling, and I really want people to go into this as I did, blind. Nathan Fillion was really lovely in it and charming, it was odd to see him play an awkward slightly nervous guy since the last time I saw him he was leading a ship of misfits across space. some words about Nathan Fillion and Castle )

I also attempted to watch Vampire Diaries last night, and unfortunately I just couldnt stand it. It's not that it was bad (well it IS bad but that's not the problem) I mean I expected to be more witty and occult I guess? It just felt like your typical teen show but with vampires in it. more bitching here ) Ah well, cant love em all I guess!

I've decided to drop Gossip Girl and House. I'll follow House's proceedings via the house_cuddy comm, since that's really the only aspect of the show I care much about. and While I love hugh laurie and I'll keep an eye on him as house because of that, I was never particularly fond of the character House himself. He's kind of a huge douche. which I get is the point but still.

In other news Glee continues to be blah but I cant stop watching it just yet. (especially not after that recent news about whedon directing an ep!) I liked the whole Puck/Rachel thing in this weeks ep, I hope they actually can form a friendship at some point but the ending didnt really seem to support that personally I think it's a little odd how little puck seems to be bothered that quin is carrying his CHILD, but previews for the next week or so seem to indicate he hasnt totally forgotten about that (I also FFed through very Emma/Willa scene, they annoyed me that much with their treacly saccharine crap that just glosses over the fact that they are both selfish cheating assholes)

I Love Community. Have I said that? I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I want more people to watch this show so bad. Hell if I can figure out a way to do so, I wanna send a letter to Dan Harmon thanking him for making this show so even if it does get cancelled after this season he knows there are people who appreciated his effort and his story. Apparently Community and it's characters were based heavily on Harmon's own experiances which explains so much why it feels so real and honest even when it's being quirky and odd in it's humor or plots. I love how real everything feels honestly and I sympathize so strongly with alot of the characters. It's strange how familiar alot of them feel, and each day I find myself relating with Britta more strongly. the reasons this show is so wonderful to me ) Anyway everyone NEEDS to watch this, it's funny, it's fresh, it's not full of horrible gender and race cliches, it's smart and best of all it'll make you smile at the end. I gaurantee you, everytime. I am still SO HAPPY THAT IT GOT A FULL SEASON ORDER. However I realized something, I'm not happy enough with just one season. I want another and another and another! So that's why, I am doing a damn pimp post. All y'all better prepare yourselves!

Lie to Me this week was also amazing and I went through a ridiculous amount of grief to finally get a hold of the file since I only got half the ep thanks to stupid baseball running over time. However it was all worth it cause it was a GREAT intense ep, tim roth excels so much at the intense stuff and my shipper heart did many leaps at all the lovely Cal/Gillian interaction at the end. This show just gets better every week. I am counting down the days to the inevitable Cal kicks everyone's ass in poker episode. I loved it when Pysch did it, and I loved it when The Mentalist did it and I know I'm gonna love it when Lie2Me does it too. (speaking of the Roth, I recieved my DVD copy of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead yesterday! CANT WAIT TO WATCH IT *bounces with joy*)

To conclude this entry: White Collar's pilot airs tonight! (one of these days I am gonna watch Burn Notice. I have a feeling I'd like it)

Sup y'all. It's been a while hasnt it? School kept me away from all of you wonderful people. But not anymore! anyway Let's talk about Tv. I have alot to say about it this evening.

Glee: I am feeling very frustrated with this show lately. When I first started watching this show, there was four things that stuck out to me and made me want to watch it. 1. awesome musical numbers. 2. Diverse and multicultural ensemble cast. 3. funny quirky humor. 4. classic underdogs story with a focus on highschool social hierchy and cast of peculiar misfits. Somewhere along the line 2 and 4 got lost by the way side.Let the rage begin... )
Ok for those who found that too tl;dr, here's the short version: Finn and Rachel need to stop gettin all the musical numbers, minority students should get more storylines and development, show needs to STOP focusing on the stupid adults and their stupid love triangles, I love all the kids (even stupid finn), mercedes has an awesome voice that needs to be used more, sue is awesome, will is a douchebag, puck is hot, baby storyline is stupid, quin has a big booty, (ok that wasnt in the original rant but it's worth noting all the same). and I really hate showtunes unless Kristen Chenoweth is singing them.

Yes I know this is alot of anger for a show that's supposed to be fun and playful. and For me it was pure happiness at first, but I hate the way things are devloping. and sad thing is I dont see anything changing anytime soon. I am not gonna stop watching just yet. But if this shit does not improve by the end of the season. I'm out.

Gossip Girl: I feel very dispassionate about this show, it's possible I always felt this way and now that feeling has jsut become amplified. It was always what I call a "Cotton candy" show, sweet, fluffy, fun but ultimately EMPTY. With other far better tv out there now, I really dont know if I want to continue bothering with this show.

Lie to Me - hear me dear flist! and Know! I have found a new love! Thy name is really freaking awesome. Yes I started watching this show on a whim a week or so ago, because Tim Roth was in it and he's an awesome guy. So far I am enjoying the hell out of it, it is not by any means groundbreaking television or the best show ever but it is probably the only procedural I can think of in which I am ACTUALLY invested in the crime investigations of the week. Mostly because it's alot less about crime and alot more about analyzing human behavior and making deductions based on that. It's basically a show immersed in behavior sciences. The show has a psychologist Gillian Foster and a guy who researchers human and animal behaviors, Eli Loker and then there is Cal Lightman who is played by Roth and he is basically a guy who can always tell if someone is lying.
He's know when you've been naughty and he knows when you've been nice! )
Honestly I love this show, and I'm glad as hell that the rating seem to be doing ok because I'd be super sad if this got cancelled. I love that the characters of Cal and Gillian are based on real people, and the show's foundation is based off real discoveries and facts about people and their behaviors. Ultimately people interesting me alot more than procedures, and concepts and blood/gore. and that's why this show is so appealing to me. Even more so, there are no actual cops part of the main cast, it's not a crime drama even though the Lightman Group gets immeresed in crimes at times because they are often recruited to use their expertise to prove or disprove someone's honesty/dishonesty. The cases of the week are not the most original or brilliant ideas but there's alot of potential to be explored in this show. and So far S2 has proven to be much more well written than S1 was, which was decent but beyond the intriguing premise, not anything very special.

Community - I really love this show, I have enjoyed every ep. I'm glad I decided to watch it despite my general dislike of sitcoms. It is set in a community college and it does FEEL like a community college. I go to a community college atm, and I have met people just like the characters of troy, abed and shirley. I love that they address how community colleges are looked down on, even my family has teased me for going because my sis was able to get into university right out highschool. Though it was not my first choice to go through comm college before uni I dont regret it cause they really do have some great professors and quality of education, and I do appreciate the classes are not huge like alot of uni classes are. I suspect when i finally transfer out of here that I will miss it alot.
all the awesome things... )

The Mentalist - love it so far, one of the only dramas not to dissappoint me in some way this season. I love how the show drops little tidbits of info about the character's each week. It's very nice, and watching the team and jane work is so fun and enjoyable that even if they dont solve the red john murder for a while, I dont think I will mind. I was originally concerned abotu this but the fact is the show doesnt hinge entirely on the red john thing, therefore when you put it out for your head, it's a really fun entertaining show. Even when it's being dark and angsty. I'm glad that Cho and Rigsby are getting more focus cause I love those guys, especially Cho, I do hope Van Pelt gets more screentime in the coming weeks. spoilers for 204 )

House: so far it's not bad but I am starting to remember why I never quite liked this show very much to begin with. I really dont see myself hanging on until the end of the season, but we will see I guess.

Doing a meme since I havent done one in a while.

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, answer these questions. You can't use the band that I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)"

Pick your Artist: Gravenhurst

Are you a male or female? Diane
Describe yourself: She Dances (then she dances, skirt swaying in the half light, she dances, white blossom in the black sky. "i need new clothes" she thinks, "new skin, I mind I can bear to live in. to live in")
How do you feel? Underfoot
Describe where you currently live? Western Lands
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Down River
Your favorite form of transportation: Tunnels
Your best friend is: Herne the Hunter
You and your best friends are: Animals
What's the weather like?: Flashlight Seasons
If your life was a TV show, what would it be called? Internal Travels
What is life to you? Hourglass
Your relationship: A Call to Arms
Your fear: The Silent Age
Thought for the Day: Trust (is hard to come by these days)
How I would like to die: Ice On Black Water
My soul's present condition: Damage
My motto: I turn my face to the forest floor

This was strangely very fun and also surprisingly therapeutic. Of course this IS one of my most favorite bands. but now I have strong desire to do this with Arcade Fire songs next. We'll see.

For shits and giggles I'll tag some people to do this: [livejournal.com profile] sibarita, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore, [livejournal.com profile] kaede_hikari, [livejournal.com profile] bakabanri, [livejournal.com profile] ashkt, [livejournal.com profile] jigglykat, [livejournal.com profile] araanaz9, [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep, [livejournal.com profile] cobblestones, [livejournal.com profile] dioraddictxx, [livejournal.com profile] ohvienna, [livejournal.com profile] arcady, [livejournal.com profile] tardisdoll
of course participation is entirely optional

Also in case anyone wants to add me there, I have a dreamwidth: http://queenofhearts.dreamwidth.org/
I have successfully (mostly) and with great effort managed to transfer an lj layout onto my dw account, via tampering with some very complicated code. No I did not suddenly become advanced at html programming over night. I used this: http://antagonist.dreamwidth.org/619.html very handy tutorial. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to import an lj layout onto dreamwidth.

I also have at least 1 dreamwidth invite code so if anyone wants that then say so. first come first serve, unless someone I really like comes after you asking for it in which case tough shit. I few people I like that much though so odds are in your favor.

Ahhh Anne Stuart, she of the romance thrillers/romantic suspense books. I wouldnt call her a favorite author or even a very good author (though not a bad one either) But she is undoubtedly a guilty pleasure of mine. Her novels are basically CRACK and you shouldnt be doing it and you know it's not good for you & gonna eat away your brain tissue but YOU CANT STOP. I always go through her novels faster than anyone elses. Dunno what that says about me...no wait of course I do. I have a love of dysfunctional couples and love/hate relationships, something stuart is much more likely to explore than most romance novel authors. Bleh at fluffy romances, bleh I say!

Ice Storm = B+
Of the Stuart novels I've read so far I think I've liked this one most. It's part of Stuart's Ice series which focuses on the lives of various operatives to some shady spy organization called "The Council", this is the fourth novel in the series. Get into bed, I can always kill you in the morning ) All in all, Ice storm is a decent read and less dark than Sins and far less irritating than Midnight but still unabashedly unromantic and twisted enough to fulfill anyone's kink for fascination with suffering or an antagonistic couple. and by anyone I do mean me. mmmmm hate!sex.

Ritual Sins = B-
I feel like I shouldnt have liked this story, but I did, quite a bit actually. It was completely fucked up, the power dynamics were skewed, some of the plot developments were right out of a B horror movie or a lifetime tv movie and the hero was an obligatory unapologetic psychotic jackass. but I still had such a blast reading it. It's one of those stories you read where you just turn off your brain and enjoy the very trashy ride.
Luke, part cult leader, part con man, all pyscho meets Rachel a Very Angry Woman ) Basically Ritual Sins is what it is, a creepy thriller with lots of sexual tension and then actual sex, the plot isnt very intelligent and you probably wont be surprised by most of the twists and turns but it manages to keep from being completely predictable. I managed to finish it in a day or so, a fun fast read. Well fun if your idea of fun is stalkers, murders, cults, conspiracies, evil old ladies, homicidal dwarves and sex in the back of a creepy hearse during a violent thunderstorm. Hey man, I dont knock YOUR interests.

A Rose at Midnight = C-
There is so much that went wrong with this story for me that I'm not even sure I know where to start. It's not even that as a book it was really bad, because it wasnt. Although it was miles away from good. "Midnight" started out with such a fabulously dark and interesting premise, the heroine starts out trying to poison the hero who she blames for the horrible demise of her family. So the heroine who is *gasp* french and had the misfortune to be living in france during the time of the revolution, has to watch helplessly as her aristocratic family is sent to the guillotine. Fucked up right? You bet! So of course I was intrigued. Here's where it all goes to shit aka I bitch alot in this review )
Vitriol aside, I will keep reading anne stuart and try to stick to some of her later novels, especially her contemporaries, cause so far those havent been too bad. I will however avoid her historicals like plague for now on. Also I cracked up when the word "cash" was used in this book because uh...I dont think they used that term for money in 19th century England. :x

In un book related news I went to the mall and got myself a dress to wear at my sister's graduation (that my mother insisted I attend, and before anyone gives me the evil eye for being a bad sis and not wanting to attend my lil sister's graduation, let me just say that she doesnt want to go either. We are both hostages! Our mother is forcing us to dress up and converse with stuffy old arab ladies! WILL THE HORRORS NEVER CEASE?) I will take pics of said dress once I actually manage to locate my camera.

Check it out ladies! I got a new name: [livejournal.com profile] sisterjune

Ok ok I know a put up a poll earlier in the week forr lj names and sisterjune wasnt on there but only because I hadnt thought of it yet! I'm glad I waited, I was really fed up with putting it off early on knowing the longer I waited the more indecisive I'd become but in this case I think waiting really served me well. queenalice and sevenstars were nice names, but they just didnt click for me. I wanted a name that was unique, represented ME and would be able to stay with me no matter how my interests changed or personality developed. Sisterjune is perfect for that. Because it's a name with plenty of significance to me personally but might come off as random to other people. I appreciate this air of mystery though. Of course I'm about to eliminate it in a moment but never you mind~

I got the inspiration for this name when I was perusing my fiction & poetry lj (though it's mostly just poems right now) for inspiration and bam! I got it. June is a poem I wrote when I was...14? maybe 15? basically over five years ago. It's nothing spectacular but for me it was a great form of self expression at the time since I had no other way of doing so. I needed an outlet of expression and amateurish poetry was it. So the first poem I ever wrote was June. The poem was about a strange girl named june and it was in the form of a letter where her sibling july writes to her and asks her to return home, her family doesnt get her which is shown in the poem by july asking each family member (all named after a month of the year) about june. The poem is largely metaphorical though and isnt literally about a girl named june unless of course you want it to be. June wasnt about me or anyone I know either but in a way it felt like I was talking to myself. Sort of my free spirited bright but oddball side that got beat down over the years and was slipping away from me as I aged and I was sort of withdrawing from people. It was a tough time, but I can look back on it now with a smile because I know it was all just a part of my growth into a wiser better adult. Still got plenty of growing to do though!

I'm very happy with this name and I'm glad I made a change. I feel like this name suits me very well. Also my birthday is in June. :D
