Hate on me hater (aka another post where Tai uses alot of angry!caps.)

Sup y'all. It's been a while hasnt it? School kept me away from all of you wonderful people. But not anymore! anyway Let's talk about Tv. I have alot to say about it this evening.

Glee: I am feeling very frustrated with this show lately. When I first started watching this show, there was four things that stuck out to me and made me want to watch it. 1. awesome musical numbers. 2. Diverse and multicultural ensemble cast. 3. funny quirky humor. 4. classic underdogs story with a focus on highschool social hierchy and cast of peculiar misfits. Somewhere along the line 2 and 4 got lost by the way side.
In fact, as much as I do enjoy the musical numbers most of the time, they are not always very good every week and the digitized voices and lip syncing is sometimes a little TOO obvious. I also happen to hate showtunes, i've always hated showtunes and classical/typical musicals never did it for me. The reason I was able to enjoy the musical numbers in glee was because if the variety of pieces chosen, many of them were even favorites of mine like Dont stop believin, Push it, Gold Digger, and This is my life. Basically not your typical "musical" fair, which made me enjoy the musical numbers more. I did love chenoweth's episode even if it was full of showtunes, she just sang them with such gusto and personality it was hard not to enjoy it. However, more often than not, I am just "ok" with the music rather than ecstatic about it.
But this is not the problem I am having with Glee right now.
The real problem I am having with glee is the repeated focus on Will's stupid pointless love life drama, and the minority students constantly being shoved aside so the story (and the musical numbers!) can be ALL about rachel and finn. Um WTF? I mean on the one hand I can see maybe why Lea Michelle the actress who plays rachel gets the most solos, she has a very strong voice and more importantly she has the most experience in singing/dancing on stage among the student cast. But why does that mean she should also have the primary story focus on her more than others as well? Rachel is not more interesting or complex than any of the other students, in fact I would say she is alot less interesting than most of them.
And why the hell does Finn get so much attention? He is a shitty dancer (something the actor himself admits) and he is merely a decent/ok singer. I dont dislike Finn's voice, but there is no reason why Finn should get as many solos as he does. If anything Artie has a far better voice, I get that since he is in a wheel chair it will be harder for him to get big parts in the musical numbers, but that does not mean the solos should all go to finn! and hell what about Puck? He sounded good too! I just feel very bothered and I feel like the only reason Finn is getting so much time on the stage is to further the stupid pointless love triangle going on between him, rachel and quinn. I could not CARE LESS who ends up with whom! It's so frustrating because Glee has alot of witty humor, and a great talented cast and they are not using them to their full potential. Why do the writers think the audience is interested in Will and Emma's doomed romance more than the kids the show is supposed to be about? I mean the WHOLE REASON Glee is so interesting is cause of the unique and fresh aspects of the show, and these are with the exception of the musical numbers, all being traded over in favor of more screentime for lame tv tropes and cliches such as love triangles and will they/wont they sexual tension that is already plaguing EVERY FUCKING SHOW on American tv. WHY? I feel so let down because it just looked like such a promising show, and I kept hoping each episode we'd get to focus on a different student each time, I mean kurt got a whole ep devoted to him at least (though he STILL didnt get to sing) and Mercedes has gotten two solos, but what about the rest of the cast? and Why has quinn gotten two solos so far but Tina who has a better voice than hers hasnt gotten any? and In fact we dont know shit about Tina beyond her being goth and asian because every week it's about quinn's issues, finn's issues, rachel's issues, and will's issues, maybe emma's issues but never the rest of the cast who is you know, not white. I mean like I said, Kurt did get one ep (though he is also white technically but he still counts as a minority) and Mercedes did get some focus on her in the last episode and the one where she had a thing for her Kurt. But even then it was minor, we know very little about her in comparison to the other white cast members, and we know NOTHING about all the other minority students save Kurt, and I cant help but feel like the only reason Kurt got airtime at all is because the showrunner is also gay and Kurt's story mirrored some of his own (his words not mine).
For crying out loud, the last episode was almost entirely about Sue taking all of Will's minority students and putting them in a group because they felt ignored by Will. You would THINK, that this is a great episode to showcase the minority students and maybe show Will he's been casting Finn and Rachel in too many numbers. YET at the end what happens? FINN AND RACHEL GET THE SOLOS. AGAIN. WTF? Yes Mercedes did get to sing in the beginning, and there was that awesome impromptu group jam session of Nelly's Ride with Me (possibly my favorite part of the whole episode) but at the end it was just business as usual.

I feel cheated. I feel like i was lured in on false pretenses. and What's doubly infuriating is I really do love those kids, (even stupid pointless finn, sort of) and I just want the show to be about THEM and THEIR stories, not stupid Will and his stupid wife (though she's far more entertaining to watch than he is) or friggin Emma who lost all favor with me when she decided to use coach tanaka as her replacement prop for Will cause he wouldnt leave his PREGNANT WIFE for her after a few weeks of mild flirtation. Or the gross coach who has no sense of dignity. Or Will again who seems to have no problem using the kids to fulfill his own goals, ignoring the minority students, or being emotionally unfaithful to his wife and then getting annoyed when she shows up at his work place because he cant flirt with Emma anymore. *gag* So far the only adult who I like at all is Sue, and she's techinically pure evil, so that goes to show you how much the others are irritating me right now. It helps that Sue is not protrayed as being a good guy and the actress playing her is BRILLIANT. But Will is supposed to be a character we root for and like and yet he is a tremendous DOUCHEBAG.

The only aspect I found interesting about Quinn's baby was the fact that it was Puck's kid and that storyline seems to have been dropped entirely. I mean wtf was up with Quinn singing this week about being dangled around? SERIOUSLY? She is LYING to Finn that her child is his child, and causes him immense anxiety and possibly fucking up his future because she doesnt want to admit to her own mistakes. I mean I get it, she's a kid, I dont blame her entirely but at the same time should I really feel sorry for her that Finn has eyes on another girl? I mean it's obvious that Finn is nothing more than a symbol of status for Quinn. I get why she blew off Puck before if she wasnt crazy about being a teen mom and marrying a deadbeat but she's not planning on keeping the child so isnt it about time to come clean to Finn? (she doesnt even seem BOTHERED that she's lying and actually Puck seems to have gotten over the fact that he will never know his child whom he orignally showed an interest in raising. Uh???).
Ok for those who found that too tl;dr, here's the short version: Finn and Rachel need to stop gettin all the musical numbers, minority students should get more storylines and development, show needs to STOP focusing on the stupid adults and their stupid love triangles, I love all the kids (even stupid finn), mercedes has an awesome voice that needs to be used more, sue is awesome, will is a douchebag, puck is hot, baby storyline is stupid, quin has a big booty, (ok that wasnt in the original rant but it's worth noting all the same). and I really hate showtunes unless Kristen Chenoweth is singing them.

Yes I know this is alot of anger for a show that's supposed to be fun and playful. and For me it was pure happiness at first, but I hate the way things are devloping. and sad thing is I dont see anything changing anytime soon. I am not gonna stop watching just yet. But if this shit does not improve by the end of the season. I'm out.

Gossip Girl: I feel very dispassionate about this show, it's possible I always felt this way and now that feeling has jsut become amplified. It was always what I call a "Cotton candy" show, sweet, fluffy, fun but ultimately EMPTY. With other far better tv out there now, I really dont know if I want to continue bothering with this show.

Lie to Me - hear me dear flist! and Know! I have found a new love! Thy name is really freaking awesome. Yes I started watching this show on a whim a week or so ago, because Tim Roth was in it and he's an awesome guy. So far I am enjoying the hell out of it, it is not by any means groundbreaking television or the best show ever but it is probably the only procedural I can think of in which I am ACTUALLY invested in the crime investigations of the week. Mostly because it's alot less about crime and alot more about analyzing human behavior and making deductions based on that. It's basically a show immersed in behavior sciences. The show has a psychologist Gillian Foster and a guy who researchers human and animal behaviors, Eli Loker and then there is Cal Lightman who is played by Roth and he is basically a guy who can always tell if someone is lying.
But thats not all, he can read people's expressions and often know exactly what they are feeling/thinking. It's fascinating because it shows you exactly how and why Lightman knows what he knows and there's alot of photos/vidoes of real life people (criminals, victims, corrupt politicians, madmen, regular people etc) interspersed throughout the show to basically show you that the stuff Lightman talks about is very real and connected to our world. Which makes Lie to Me immediately ten times more interesting than most procedurals out there, since I couldnt give less of a shit about forensics or medical procedures. It's just not my thing, however psychology? behavioral and social sciences? Hell Yes! It helps that Lightman as played by Roth is possibly the most gangsta scientist ever.
I mean this guy gets right up in dangerous people's faces, seems to enjoy confrontation, rarely displays any fear even in tenouous situations, talks like a south london street tough, and his a this funny bowlegged slightly hunched walk that I have dubbed "the sloppy pimp walk". It is awesome. All this adds up to making Lightman strangely attractive to me despite him being well up into his forties and only 5'7 in height. The fact that Roth got to keep his hot awesome accent helps too. If all this doesnt sound very interesting you'd be wrong! Alot of stuff happens on the show, and Cal also has a protege a lovely hispanic woman Ria Torres who happens to be that rare ting in this world, a Natural, who can thusly read people's expressions without any prior training or research on the subject. There is also the addition of Cal's daughter to this show, this is relevant because Cal is basically just a worried dad around his daughter not the confident fearless brilliant Cal Lightman which is who he is on the job. The contrast is fascinating to watch for me, and it seems Emily is one of the few people who can tell when Cal is lying.
Honestly I love this show, and I'm glad as hell that the rating seem to be doing ok because I'd be super sad if this got cancelled. I love that the characters of Cal and Gillian are based on real people, and the show's foundation is based off real discoveries and facts about people and their behaviors. Ultimately people interesting me alot more than procedures, and concepts and blood/gore. and that's why this show is so appealing to me. Even more so, there are no actual cops part of the main cast, it's not a crime drama even though the Lightman Group gets immeresed in crimes at times because they are often recruited to use their expertise to prove or disprove someone's honesty/dishonesty. The cases of the week are not the most original or brilliant ideas but there's alot of potential to be explored in this show. and So far S2 has proven to be much more well written than S1 was, which was decent but beyond the intriguing premise, not anything very special.

Community - I really love this show, I have enjoyed every ep. I'm glad I decided to watch it despite my general dislike of sitcoms. It is set in a community college and it does FEEL like a community college. I go to a community college atm, and I have met people just like the characters of troy, abed and shirley. I love that they address how community colleges are looked down on, even my family has teased me for going because my sis was able to get into university right out highschool. Though it was not my first choice to go through comm college before uni I dont regret it cause they really do have some great professors and quality of education, and I do appreciate the classes are not huge like alot of uni classes are. I suspect when i finally transfer out of here that I will miss it alot.
I love that Abed (even if he is played by an indian dude) is an arab, because that is so rare to see and he also clearly has some form of autism or asperger's and yet he clearly comes off as likable, sympathetic and highly intelligent, while still being shown as a very peculiar individual. I love his little friendship with troy, someone who is completely different from abed and yet the two have a very funny and convincing dynamic. I love that the show doesnt just center entirely on Jeff. I love that all the female characters on the show are very flawed, have their own issues, arent always very nice but yet are portrayed a sympathetic and not dismissed as crazy or written in a bland cliche ridden way. Joel Mchale totally brings it as Jeff in the show, and his crush on Britta which could have been really annoying is actually kind of cute, mostly because he is aware he can get any girl he wants but sticks around britta cause he genuinely likes her and when she asks him to back off he does so and just decides to be a good friend to her. and sure enough in the last episode she cheats because she has insecurity about succeeding in college (because has undergone alot of failures up to this point) and he goes out of his way to help her. If this sounds sappy it's not cause all of this is done in a really funny entertaining way. It's nice to see all the characters transcend the initial stereotypes they were introduced as in the pilot. The humor and writing to me is great and and I would definitely be sad if this show got cancelled, so here's to hoping that NBC is done vaporizing shows for the mean time. (Also it's so nice to see Chevy Chase on tv again, after reading about his tumultous career on tv and film, I'm happy to hear that he's getting it back together in recent years and showing the world he's still a funny guy. it seems he's mellowed out and become more down to earth with the years too.)

The Mentalist - love it so far, one of the only dramas not to dissappoint me in some way this season. I love how the show drops little tidbits of info about the character's each week. It's very nice, and watching the team and jane work is so fun and enjoyable that even if they dont solve the red john murder for a while, I dont think I will mind. I was originally concerned abotu this but the fact is the show doesnt hinge entirely on the red john thing, therefore when you put it out for your head, it's a really fun entertaining show. Even when it's being dark and angsty. I'm glad that Cho and Rigsby are getting more focus cause I love those guys, especially Cho, I do hope Van Pelt gets more screentime in the coming weeks. Her going all fast and the furious on biker chick last night was awesome though. As was Cho and Rigbsy staring down an entire motorcycle gang in the middle of the street, with nothing but a pair of guns at their sides. I may or may not have had a moment. Also Rigsby's dad was a big time criminal? THAT EXPLAINS SO MUCH. Here's to hoping we found out more about van pelt and cho next. (how does one go from being a juvenile delinquent to a cop?)

House: so far it's not bad but I am starting to remember why I never quite liked this show very much to begin with. I really dont see myself hanging on until the end of the season, but we will see I guess.

Well you know this already but that was one of my biggest issues with Glee: that I was hoping that it would focus on the stellar young cast of students and their individual and unique struggles with their talents and being in the glee club, but it ended up being all about love triangles and cheating on each other, etc etc. It's too bad that it's making you mad since you seemed to really like it at first D:

Agreed though--Sue is AWESOME. And mostly because she's entertaining, not irritating like most everyone else XD Tim Roth is a genius too &hearts

[identity profile] sisterjune.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
I dont hate it yet but yeah I'm starting to reach the limit of my patience with this show. It sucks because it has GOOD parts, really good parts and a great cast. and yet there is just so much going wrong. It's depressing. if it was just an all around shitty show it wouldnt be this frustrating.

I LOVE SUE OMG. I never laugh as hard as when she is onscreen. and yes I have a Roth fixatoin now. I am finally going to reservoir dogs now. and a bunch of other stuff he was in if I can manage it! *needs to find a roth icon*

[identity profile] nekokonneko.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
-sigh- Well I'm glad I didn't start to watch Glee; I would be livid if I got attatched to it and then it turned so shitty. I think I may watch S3 of Skins, just because I think Luke Pasqualino is hot.

House should have really stopped long ago. Or, the writers shouldn't have drawn out the story so much.

[identity profile] sisterjune.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, well I'd say still give it a try cause it has lots of lovely moments and we can bitch about it together when it's being dumb. lol and I thought Luke was cute too until I actually saw S3 and his character annoyed the BEJEEZUS out of me. it's the same as the will problem, we are supposed to like and sympathize with him but he is a passive agressive douchebag. but I'd say it's worth suffering through S3 for the awesomeness of Naomi and the adorableness of JJ and Thomas.

I love Hugh Laurie alot so I'm glad he got such a lucrative gig. and the funny thing is house could be such a great show if it had less mediocre writers. (that's how i feel about lie to me too but they have a more interesting premise and the female characters are better written-with the exception of Cuddy who is awesome)

[identity profile] cobblestones.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Completely agree with you on Glee. I loved it at the start, but as I got into the later eps, it just sort of lost it for me. The Terri/Will baby plotline is SO BORING and the Finn/Quinn one is not much better. Agree about Mercedes as well, her voice knocks me out.

And I don't think the guy who plays Finn can really sing, he has a LOT of postproduction shit added to his voice. But Sue is my favourite of all. Also Kurt.

Oh, I forgot to mention how much I love Lie to Me! I started watching it because of Tim Roth last year, and now I am all kinds of hooked. As far as proceedurals go, I only watch it and Bones, and I like it so much better than Bones.

I also think Tim Roth is all kinds of attactive. I love that they don't cover up the tattoo on his arm!

Word word and word. I just feel deeply upset at how such a great concept has been run into the ground. It's just unfair how little variety there is on broadcast tv lately, and when Ithought Glee was the face of a brave new world of tv, here it goes just doin the same old shit every other fucking show does. It wouldnt even be as BAD if they'd just focus on the damn children! I love Sue so much, she is definitely my fave character and Kurt is so adorable I want to take him home with me and make him my little sister.

oh yay another lie to me fan! I was worried I was just one of 12 on the entire internet. So I wouldnt see any on my flist. I totally watched for the Roth (and that tattoo *__* i have such a thing for tattoos) but I really like the supporting characters too, especially Gillian. I really want to devote a whole post to how wonderful Gillian is and how much I love how she's written. and Speaking of bones, I just found out recently that STEPHAN FREAKING FRY is guesting on the show! as a professor! WAAAH. I hope he keeps his accent on it. I almost wanna check out the show for his scenes even though bones is sooo not my cuppa.

[identity profile] cobblestones.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
You will be happy to know that Stephen has been on the show four times, this is his fifth! He plays a psychologist or a psychiatrist that treats the main character. And he keeps his English accent! He basically just plays Stephen Fry, but that's the way I like him so I'm happy!

I just like the English in general haha.

I really want Glee to get better. :(

[identity profile] whited-79.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
told you! told you Lie To Me is amazing! XD and Tim Roth is just wonderful he's my favourite on TV right now besides Simon Baker! XD

[identity profile] sisterjune.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. did you? I totally forgot! I remember I just randomly decided to watch it a couple of weeks ago cause I knew tim roth was in it and I was like "he's a cool dude" so I figure I'll check it out and sure enough it AWESOME and at least 70% of that is because of Roth. The other 30% is a mixture of the lovely kelli williams, the cool premise, and emily's deer in the headlight eyes. (ok not so much the last one)

Hee Baker <3 It's so funny I find someone classically handsome like Baker attractive, and yet I also find a weird little (and pushing fifty!) dude like Roth crazy hot as well and it's pretty much all attitude, though they are about as different as night and day. Alot of people comparing Cal to House, but I never really warmed to House the way I have Cal...huh, wonder why.

[identity profile] whited-79.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
well maybe not exactly in those words LOL! but I remembered telling you that one of my fav characters on TV at the moment is Cal, I think during the time when you did your top 10 female characters or something?

those two really have a little bit of a similarity...Cal became the mean one as he is because of his time in Africa, while Jane has a really brutal past! and I love the chemistry between them and their female partners, they're lovely! XD

[identity profile] banana-cave.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I hate to sound like the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" fans who were mad about the casting of the live action movie - in the cartoon, the characters were Asian, but live action they are white. But I was thinking about this the other day. Why hasn't Tina had a show stopping song? And furthermore, why wasn't that actress cast as Rachael? Why wasn't Mercades cast as Rachael? Why does the preppy white chick get to play the lead? I realize that the show is about caricatures of people, but let's get some of the other cast to do some songs, please!

I actually like the pregnancy story line, but I think that Fin is so stupid for thinking he's the father even tho he hasn't had sex with her, and I keep waiting for that to come back up, but it hasn't.

I love Community! Abed is my favorite character. I loved how Duncan proved the Duncan principal by getting mad waiting for Abed to leave! I've been watching Lie to Me & the Mentalist, too!

[identity profile] sisterjune.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
You absolutely should not hate to sound like those people, because I am one of them (I am a big avatar fan but i never blogged about it since at the time it was still airing I didnt really have any avatar buddies nor did I blog much about tv in general) and I think whitewashing is a serious issue and anyone who thinks otherwise I gaurantee you is 1. White and 2. has no idea how privelaged and favored they are in media depictions of any kind, be it film, book covers, comics-the list could go on and on. But you know the thing about privelage is never having to think about it. So of course hearing these fans *gasp* have the audacity to complain that the cultural heritage behind the show is not being honored and asians should be able to star in big budget fantasy flicks too (especially since slumdog millionare was FULL of indians and did very damned well for itself in the box office tyvm) would annoy them, since it's not like they ever had to worry about finding enough white characters to identify with in their favorite media. *fumes*
Sorry I was actually wanting to rant about this a while ago and got distracted with school but anyway, uh back to the topic at hand!

I know why Lea Michelle was cast as rachel because from what I know she has a history with broadway and has had a few starring roles, that alot of the other actors do not have. But actually tina played her understudy in one of the musicals she did actually....which does beg the question WHY hasnt tina gotten a chance to sing? I 'm sure her voice is at least stronger than Quinn's if not as strong as Rachel's.

I dont mind the kid's half of the pregnancy storyline so much actually. If they focused more on the issues the pregnancy would cause for quinn, finn and puck who is the real father but the show seems to not care about this anymore. I would enjoy it MUCH more than the whole terri is gonnas steal the baby and is fooling will thing. It was funny at first but now it'[s just annoying cause there is so much focus on will and his angst and I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK.

Abed <3 He's a darling boy. I LOVED that the "scientist" Duncan was the one to lose his shit in the end and not abed. Served him right, he seemed more like a sadist than a scientist to me, but perhaps the point was that the line between the two is rather thin. Yay more Lie to Me fans! I'm so glad. cause I see myself flailing alot about this show in the future and darn it I have such a Tim Roth fixation now it's not even funny. I totally just went and bought Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead, on a whim from amazon. cause I loved the stoppard play and hadnt seen the film but wen I found out roth was in it (and it had such good reviews!) I was like, "Oh HELLS yes!" and ordered that mofo posthaste. I hope it's as good as the play sounded when I read it. (sadly never got to see a stoppard play, just as well though as it probably would have made my head explode from SHEER AWESOME)

[identity profile] banana-cave.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I am one of those Avatar people, too, haha. I am white, and in my adult life I have realized that I am privileged. I appreciate casts with people who are best for the role, regardless of race, but there is definitely "whitewashing" that happens.

When I was reading the Glee cast bios, I thought I read that the actress who played Tina was in Les Mis as Epiponine (?). So you know she can sing! So why hasn't she yet? Why haven't more of the Glee club members been featured? You brought up a good point that even tho Kurt got his own episode, he hasn't been featured in a song yet.

Roth was in a movie version of Rosencrantz & Guildernstern? That's awesome! I've never read it, either, but I love Hamlet. I'll have to check it out.

[identity profile] wingstodust.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, word on everything about glee. I'm so so sick of Will. *Stabs*

And yay, someone who watches community! I was shocked that I ended up liking a sitcom so much, of all things, but it was love. And I could write poetry on the epic-ness of Abed. <33

[identity profile] wingstodust.livejournal.com 2009-10-19 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, I was brought here when I saw all the sue sylester quotes on the comment titles of Wolf's IRIS post. Just so you know and make an attempt to not sound like a creeper. ^^;;;

dont worry, you'd have to work hard to be creepier than me

[identity profile] sisterjune.livejournal.com 2009-10-20 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! sorry for the late reply I only just now got time to give this comment a decent reply. I'm so glad to meet a community fan. I keep feeling like it's such a small fandom. I know some people like that, but it makes me sad. I really dont see a future for this show to be honest and it breaks my heart cause it's such a lovely uplifting funny and unique show. and It's unlikely it'll make it past it's first season. Honestly I'll feel glad if they even get the standard 22 episode season. So long as it wraps up well and doesnt get canceled cruelly right in the middle, I'll be able to make peace with its being canceled.
and I usually dont care for sitcoms but this one just fulfills all my narrative desires. I also love the style of comedy it uses, I love the unstereotypical characters especially crazy abed. I love that the female characters arent perfect or boring, and I like that Britta despite her role as pseudo love interest is not there solely to fix Jeff''s issues or make him learn lessons but that she has her OWN issues and that Jeff actually helps her out sometimes. Like what he told her in the last ep when he said he just genuinely liked her as a person and that's why he hung around her, that really made me smile. and it was the point where I went from really liking this show to totally loving it. PLEASE DONT CANCEL THIS SHOW NBC.

Will makes me really angry for reasons I dont always fully understand. But I dont have to, to wish that sue would kick him in the face.

Re: dont worry, you'd have to work hard to be creepier than me

[identity profile] wingstodust.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
The thought of this show getting cancelled is BREAKING MY HEART. T_T It's the first sitcom I enjoyed after the disaster that was the later seasons of The Office, and why, why can't it be more popular?! T_____T I want to be grateful if I find out they wrap the show up well, but I just, Wah. T_____T

Yeah, I've never been a big fan of sitcoms either. I usually find them to be way too formulaic, or I don't find the jokes to my taste, etc etc, but Community gets everything just right. ♥ Yes, I love, love the comedy, and I love how the characters in this show aren't caricatures or over-the-top or conform to a stereotypical "type" that I feel is so prevalent in other sitcoms. And basically I agree with everything you said, and Brittaaaaaaaa~ I thought I wouldn't like her, because I kinda assumed that she'd do the whole exists-to-fix-Jeff's-problems thing you mentioned, but yeah, latest ep proves that we should not doubt the genius of this show, lol. I think though, all my favourite parts of the show so far was everything with Abed. He's my absolute favourite darling, and he makes friendship comments without them sounding lame or cliched and eeeeeeee ♥

I wish Glee just stopped giving us the whole Will storyline of stupid subplot that no one cares about and just GIVES US MORE SUE ONE-LINERS. That would up the quality of Glee by the millions.
